Dr. Ozumba is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who is Fellowship-Trained in sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction. He specializes in sports medicine and joint replacement surgery of the shoulder, hip and knee. In addition, he also provides care for a variety of general orthopedic conditions.
Dr. Ozumba is committed to providing excellent care with compassion for his patients. Dr. Ozumba provides both surgical and non-surgical orthopedic care for patients of all ages. Dr. Ozumba treats all aspects of orthopedics including general orthopedic injuries, sports-related injuries, and arthritis of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He is skilled in minimally invasive arthroscopy and minimally invasive joint replacement surgery that facilitate quicker recovery for his patients.
Dr. Ozumba was born in Nigeria and moved to Houston, Texas where he finished grade school and high school graduating with honors from Bellaire, High School. He attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he played varsity basketball and competed in track & field earning achieving All-Conference honors in both sports. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology.
Dr. Ozumba attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas where he was awarded several research honors including being one of twelve national recipients of the prestigious Stanley Sarnoff Fellowship in Cardiovascular Science. Dr. Ozumba’s passion for sports and medicine led him to ultimately choose a career in orthopedics.
Dr. Ozumba completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at UT Southwestern, working at Parkland Memorial Hospital. During residency, received additional training on hip and knee surgery in Norwich, England. Following his residency, Dr. Ozumba completed a sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction fellowship at Duke University. During fellowship, he served an assistant team physician for the Duke basketball and football teams and North Carolina Central University while participating in the care of professional, collegiate, and high school athletes.
At OSSM Orthopedics, Dr. Ozumba continues to provide care for a variety of patients including athletes of all levels. He has served as a team physician for professional sports teams and several high schools and colleges in the DFW area over the past 8 years including the Dallas Desperados, Rockwall Heath High School, Cedar Hills High School, and the University of Dallas.
Dr. Ozumba has a special interest in sports injuries, arthritis of the shoulder hip and knee, shoulder, knee and hip arthroscopy, shoulder replacement, total knee replacement, and minimally invasive hip replacement.
Dr. Ozumba also participates in medical mission trips to Nigeria through the OSSM Bridges Foundation and has been a leader in advancing orthopedics in Nigeria. He co-founded the Center for Advanced Specialty Surgery based in Lagos, Nigeria with a mission to improve the quality of life by advancing the practice of orthopedics and other surgical specialties through investment, education, skills transfer, and providing the highest quality of care one patient at a time.
Dr. Ozumba has been named by his peers to the Super Doctors®Rising Stars list for 2012 and 2013.

Dr. Ozumba enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids. He enjoys playing basketball and exercise, medical mission work in West Africa, and volunteering with local church and community organizations.
